Perhaps the heavy reading of Wire magazine had Sam out to buy Oval's first record Systemisch but it was Diskont 94 I picked up in some strange jaunt in Toronto that sealed the deal for me. The whole package, the basically one tune, the rarity, the bleeps (we coined the phrase "glitch"). It all added up to the most memorable record of this year. I was heavily into the Mac and we all scrambled to create some kind of laptop rock in response. Our enthusiasm certainly effected Bettina to sign Marcus to Thrill Jockey. Meeting him during a Chinatown dinner was kind of fanboy awkward, but hell, he looked like he was 16, where does this stuff come from?
Got my bags packed and I'm traveling the great Midwest and bits of Canada with my art slides getting the kids to consider our lovely school. Actually its quite a blast, since I get to go straight into classes and keep up relationships with all these teriffic art teachers. Reminds me of the Arts Magnet which I don't get to go to, thanks to the evil Phyllis who has that territory. Drat, someday perhaps?
Welcome to Claire! It was indeed a long and difficult delivery, but Claire is such a big cutie! Although we didn't know better, the strange thing is even though it could have been much better, it all works out in the end and we have our baby makes three family now in the new house. Time to get rid of the pickup truck and get a family car.
Boy, what a relief that with the new baby I can finally say goodbye to the paint crew at the Art Institute. Now, don't get me wrong, it was nice to be able to think about art, but it's time to grow up and have a career. Anne Morley, bless her heart saw some potential and now I just have to take a massive pay cut and get out there and talk up art school. Piece of cake
