Liz Phair

I don;t think I ever met Liz Phair, which is odd, since I certanly hung around Idful and was there when Brad Wood was recording the Shrimp Boat stuff, and of course Elizabeth was doing Around the Coyote in Wicker Park. Oh well, it was definitely the ajax of Chicago on the music/art scene, and I was hoping that Sam would catch on the star. Duende came out, but didn't make it to number anything, a shame, it would be my number 2 for this year.

May Moving time

Bought our first home, an abandoned tavern in lovely Bridgeport through the totally underworld dealings with Rocco Bruno and the FHA to get a no money down loan, we're moving in!. Isn't that wall falling over not up to code, hmmm? Man this place needs a load of work, but fortunately there is a second floor apartment we can rent out to John and Mayno to make ends meet while we scrape up the basement. Apparently used to be called the Haynes Court and all the judges drank here. Classic.

April Lloyd Shin Show

Sun 5

Well, much too soon after the show with Gary, Mike Weir called me up and wanted me to have a show at Lloyd Shin. This indeed was the 'hotness' you can hope for as an emerging artist. The trick was to produce all new work. Hmmm, especially when the old work was barely in dust. This was a stretch, and even though on closing day Victoria Lautman gave it an enthusiastic review on WBEZ, there wasn't much fanfare. I didn't sell anything and I believe some of the pieces were done in a rush, so I didn't even photograph them. Crud.
