Boy, its kind of embarassing how into Prince I am this year. Biff and the Spliffs wer covering 1999 back in 1983, but after Purple Rain and Around the world which I camped out at Wave in Shinjuku to buy on release day, and now this. The guy is a visionary. I still recall Chris Luxem and Max Cap waxing on about "slow love" which still creeps me out.
MayArt Institute welcomes me into its hallowed halls
Started working for the Art Institute of Chicago, a fun place, a museum as a painter. The pay is good, and allows me to stop starving and to spend money on important things like art supplies and beer. The work is somewhat more involved than working for Winky, I'm developing a hand at plastering and mudding since that is the bulk of making these huge walls we hang art on.
December Flicker bulbs
One of the first pieces I felt good about, call it 'heart' since it makes use of a little 'trick' of light bulbs or flicker bulbs, a cord loops around so the bulb casts a shadow on the paper, but since it is a flicker bulb, the shadow moves back and forth a bit. This also begins my inablity to photograph this work in it's glory, you kind of have to see it... drat!
